okayy. so i just had my twenty-first birthday. a sober 21. several people couldn't understand that, but why would i celebrate my birthday in a way that just wasn't me? so, instead my day consisted of a morning spin class, studying, friends, food, outlet malls, a cabin in park city, swimming, dessert, and best friends. and i wouldn't have wanted it any other way.
can i just say that i have the best roomates and friends ever? i woke up to a gift and card on the table from none other than the abby. included in the card was a compilation of 21 of my most favorite things. she seems to know me fairly well, what do you think?
i love the comment next to the subway, "more onions please" as i am slightly an onion fanatic and am often obliged to harass subway employees to stuff my veggie delite full of them. i love all of her drawings, each one just made me laugh. liz stocked me up with, not just a 24 pack, but a 32 pack of diet dr pepper! along with some pretty pastel candy corn and the reeses easter egg--a dangerous gift of consumption.
we headed up to abby's cabin in park city and i did a little more studying before we went to the tanger outlets, did some damage at jcrew, and then "navigated" ourselves to cafe rio for dinner. we then came back to the cabin and went downstairs in the spa and pool. if the day wasn't good enough, abby made the award winning banana foster pie that i have raved about since our freshmen year when she first made it.
my little canon cannot capture the deliciousness of this thing. just think vanilla wafer crust, dulce de leche, bananas, and cool whip all in one divine bite. let's just be honest, i have the best roomates :]
and if that wasn't enough, kiersti topped it all off with really, my only request for my birthday. that being justin bieber, of course.
now we have this life size justin as our new display in the living room to see whenever we come in or out of the apartment. abby has enjoyed putting him up to the window at night so everyone in passing can see him. kiersti also gave me a coffee bean gift card and spent over two hours working her magic on my new eyelash extensions. which are the best thing of my life.
it's great waking up and not having to do absolutely anything as i already have these long, pretty lashes! i love having a beautician as my best friend.
kiersti also made a gluten-free cake which was surprisingly delish seeing as she melted the frosting and poured it on the top..? it ended up making it moist and brownie-like. nicely done, kiersti.
it's always a bummer being away from the family and friends from back home, but i always love reading the cards that i get from them and always save them to read on my actual birthday. there is always humor in letters from my parents as my dad typically refuses on signing the same card as my mom if it is inappropriate in any way. this year it was on a palm tree card, so they both signed it. however, my mom did write "OMG, you can party now!" which made my dad squeeze in "goodness" underneath the "G" just to make sure i knew it wasn't an acronym for using the "Lord's name in vain." I think that was the best part of the card. I also got to read a sweet letter from my little sister, the soni's, julianne, and jenien. i also got to talk to the rest of the family on the phone--a very rare occassion. it was weird not having nicole with me this year, but i was happy she got to enjoy the cruise with my favorite brother-in-law. who, btw, is the same age as me-i love these couple months where i can tell nicole that i am the same age as her husband.
this was our fave pic of the very few pictures we took, can we please look at liz back there? prime.
proved to be yet another weekend that made me realize how lucky i am to have these people in my life!
